In
Daniel 11:32 (KJV) we read that: “the people that do know their God shall be
strong, and do exploits”. This is great news but sometimes we get tired and
plain worn out from our busyness and efforts, often because we try to do things
our way; or is that just me? But be encouraged as the word says that: “But they
that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with
wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not
faint” (Isa 40:31). To wait means to wait expectantly or patiently for. We are also
instructed in Proverbs chapter 3 and verses 5 and 6 to press into God and trust
him, not our own minds; this makes it easier for him to give us a smooth
journey through life.
In
Isaiah 41:10 we are told that we should not fear as our God will strengthen us,
help us and uphold us. We don’t need to fear as God is the strength of our
lives (Ps 27:1). “I can do all things through Christ who strengtheneth me”
(Phil 4:13). Don’t let satan steal your joy as: “the joy of the Lord is your strength”
(Neh 8:10b). So, just cast all your cares on him today because he cares for you:
(1 Peter 5:7). He is your strength, do things his way. He will never leave you
nor forsake you (Heb 13:5).
Have
a strong day in him.

“I can do all things through Christ which
strengtheneth me” (Phil.4:13; KJV). I am sure this is a very familiar verse to
most of us. How often we hear it quoted when someone has a difficult task in
front of them. However, do we really think about all that is implied in this
verse? We tend to focus on what we can do: “through Christ” but today I would
like to focus on how we are enabled to do that.
The
word “STRENGTHENETH”, is not just a passive word in that we just get strength
all on our own, but has more the sense of God actively filling us with his
strength. This reminds me of two other scriptures. In 1 Corinthians chapter 3
and verse 5 we read that: “Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any
thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God” and in Colossians chapter
1 and verse 11 it is written: “strengthened with all might, according to his glorious
power”.
This
means that we don’t have to depend on our ability but through the inner
strength that comes from God alone. In order to be in a position to receive
that strength we need to be abiding in the vine (John 15:5). Jesus is the vine
and we need to have an intimate and ongoing relationship with him. Praise God
that we don`t have to do things in our own strength; let`s meditate on these
verses and use our faith to depend on God’s strength and ability.

Isaiah
40:31 is a wonderful verse: “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their
strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagle; they shall run, and not be
weary; they shall walk, and not faint” (KJV).
One
spring Jean and I were parked in our car on the south end of Waskesiu lake in
Prince Albert National Park, Saskatchewan, Canada, having our prayer time.
There were 6 or so golden eagles feasting on dead fish out on the melting ice.
After a while the eagles took off and gave us 30 minutes of the most glorious
flying and gliding display right in front of and over our car. What amazing,
powerful and graceful creatures; such colors and majesty, such strength. Isaiah
40:31 truly came alive for us. God is so obvious to all in his creation (Rom
1:20).
This
is the strength he has for us. “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not
dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea,
I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness." (Isa 41:10)
It's God that does the strengthening and holds us with his hand. God tells us
not to fear, he is the one who fights our battles for us (Deut 31:6).
And,
yes, this is New Testament as well: "I can do all things through Christ which
strengtheneth me" (Phil 4:13). Did you notice that was all things not some
things? Trust God, cast your cares on him and lean on his strength today. We
can't do it on our own, my, how we need our God.

When
you ask people how they are doing these days they often say they are busy, and
consequently tired. It's a common problem. Well, the Bible tells us many times
that God is our strength. and if you are feeling tired and weary today let me
encourage you with these verses from Isaiah 40:29 and 31 (KJV). "He giveth
power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.” “But
they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up
with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk, and
not faint.” I think the key to tapping into these promises is: "waiting on
the Lord" and this involves patient waiting in trust and faith (Heb 6:12).
So
often we find ourselves caught up in the material goal’s and expectations of
the world and we are run ragged trying to attain and keep up in our own strength.
Verses 28-30 of chapter 11 in Matthews gospel are very pertinent to the present
discussion: “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will
give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly
in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my
burden is light”.
Jesus
is saying here, humble yourselves, be teachable, do things my way and enjoy my
rest, instead of your wearying, frustrating labors. Rest in him, quiet yourself,
wait on him, get his plan and run in his strength. Strength is multiplied and
goes so much further, when you let God run your show.
