“He
that wins souls is wise” (Prov 11:30; KJV). “I say unto you, that likewise joy
shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine
just persons, who need no repentance (Luke 15:7; KJV).
If
heaven gets that excited about soul wining then we should to. Sometimes we can
get very intimidated by the thought of sharing our beliefs with others. Well,
start small and work up, this can make it easier and once you’ve started you
will get excited about it. Challenge yourself to do something to witness each
day and as you do, it gets easier. “Let your light so shine before men, that
they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven” (Matt
5:16). First of all, let your light shine. Make sure the life of Jesus on the
inside of you shines out in all you do and say; smile real big. “Put on charity”,
as we read in Colossians 3:14. Leave tracts in restaurants, at checkouts and
with people you come across. Let your speech be full of grace and seasoned with
salt (Col 4:6). Take every opportunity you have to share why you are the way
you are; to share about what God has done for you.
God
says we should walk in wisdom toward non-Christians and redeem the time (Col
4:5). In other words, look for opportunities to share Jesus with people. Don’t
worry, God will give you the words to say (Matt 10 :19). Get excited about
sharing: “Do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men” (Col 3:23). This verse
means we should take our eyes off our worries and shyness and witness for and
in obedience to God and he will bless us and the outcomes. Go fishing today (Mark
1:17).

Jesus
told us to go everywhere and preach the gospel to everyone (Mark 16:15). More
than that he told us to make disciples of all people, or teach them, so they
can grow to become mature Christians (Matt. 28:19).
We
are spirit beings, we live in a body and we have a soul; our soul is our mind,
will and emotions. Our spirits died and were separated from God due to the sin
in our lives (Rom 6:23; Isa 59:2). Jesus said we must be born again (John 3: 3,6).
When we are born again, we become new creations in Christ Jesus (2 Cor 5:17).
New birth or salvation is to be reborn spiritually (John 3:1-6, Ezek 11:19). To
be born again we must first repent of sin (Acts 3:19) and ask God’s forgiveness
(1 John 1:9). He will forgive us. Then, if we believe in Jesus, confess our
belief in public and ask Jesus into our life as Lord and Savior, we will be
saved (Rom 10:9, 10) and restored in our relationship with God.
Jesus
said: “I am the way, the truth and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but
by me” (John 14:6). He is the only way to salvation.
Paul
implies that if we do not share Christ with others, we will be guilty of their
blood (Acts 20:26-27); guilty of their being assigned to eternal condemnation
(Mark 16:16). Jesus commanded us to go (Mark 16:15) and God’s love compels us
(John 3:16). So why don’t we go? I think we are often afraid of what others
will say, afraid of rejection, embarrassed; but this is all rather prideful, isn’t
it?
Just
think of what Christ did for us; no selfishness there. He said he would give us
the words to say (Luke 21:15). God will draw people to Jesus (John 6:44), we
just need to do our part and be Christ`s witnesses (2 Cor 5:19-20). It is a
wonderful experience to share Christ with others and all heaven rejoices when
one is saved (Luke 15:7).

“Ye
are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith
shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and
to be trodden under foot by men. Ye are the light of the world. A city that is
set on a hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a
bushel, but on a candle stick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify
your father which is in heaven” (Matt 5:13-16; KJV).
As Christians,
we are to be salt, we are to shine as lights in the world we live in. Those who
watch us should see a difference, should be led to say, what is it about you, I
need what you have?
We
should not hide our lamp under a basket; in other words, we should not be
intimidated but be bold and shine. We should ask ourselves have we lost our
saltiness, are we shining brightly for the Lord?
His
love, his life-giving power and presence in us should shine out (Phil 2:13 and
15). Look at how God’s presence shone through Moses after he had met with God
(Ex 34:29). God wants to show his plan and purpose through us, his church, even
to all the evil principalities in the heavenly places. (Eph 3:10).
Let’s
allow Gods presence, his word and power to change us today and shine through
us.

“But
the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the
perfect day” (Prov. 4:18; KJV).
If
the path ahead of you doesn’t seem very bright at the moment, be encouraged by
this verse which says it WILL get brighter and brighter. In addition, in
Proverbs 13:9 we are told that the light within the righteous brightens ours
faces. So, not only will your path get brighter but so will you.
We
also see this in the New Testament in Philippians 2:15. We are told that we
shine as bright lights in this wicked world. Jesus is the light and we have him
in us, he is our light (John 17:23; John 8:12). Jesus taught that we are not to
hide our light but let it shine, just like you would not switch a flash light
on and then hide it in a box (Matt 5:15)!
We
have opportunities to let our light shine wherever we find ourselves, whether
it be at work, in the neighborhood or in the marketplace. So, let your light
shine today (Matt 5:16) and make a difference in someone's life (Acts 13:47).

In 2
Corinthians 5:20 we are told that we are Christ's ambassadors; it doesn't say
that we should try to be but we are. So, what is an ambassador? An ambassador
for Christ is a representative of Christ; Jesus is not here in the flesh so we
act as his hands, feet and voice. It sounds like quite a responsibility doesn't
it?
In
Ephesians 6:20 Paul said he was an ambassador in chains and goes on to talk
about witnessing as he also does in 2 Corinthians 5:20. Thus an ambassador is
also a witness. In verse 18 of 2 Corinthians 5 we read that: “And all things
are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to
us the ministry of reconciliation”.
If
you feel like you don't have a ministry then here is one you absolutely do have;
we all do. Seeing as we are ambassadors our lives should be appropriate for
this service; people should see Christ in us (1 Peter 2:12). In other words, we
should be bearing fruit (John 15:8). What does that mean? Well, we should be
coming more and more like Jesus every day; with his love flowing from us (John
13:34) and a heart’s desire to share Jesus with others (1 Peter 3:15). How do
we get there? By abiding in the vine (John
15:5). What does that mean? It means we need to be sold out for Jesus, spending
time in prayer, his word and fellowship with him (Phil 3:8). There are no short
cuts.
As
we press into him (Phil 3:12), we will be changed, including our desires and priorities;
we will become his ambassadors (2 Cor 3:18).
