Are You Walking in Step?

“Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” (Amos 3:3; KJV). “Together” means to be one, a unit; like a group of soldiers marching in synchrony. Walking together doesn’t just happen, we have to will or agree to go in the same direction. “Agreed” has the essence of coming together in complete agreement, like coming together in marriage.

This passage from Amos should describe our relationship with God; one with him, walking in union, complete obedience and being quick to repent when convicted. We cannot have our favorite scriptures and ignore others. We cannot be selective in obedience; however inconvenient or hard it may appear to be. If one of those soldiers decided to march at a different rhythm the whole group would be thrown out of step. Unity is a beautiful thing and important to God (Ps 133:1-3). There will never be unity in the body of Christ if we as individuals don’t first make the decision to bring our will into unity with him. We must be in complete agreement with God to walk with him.

Unity in the body of Christ is not just unity and fellowship with men, in our own strength but a unity driven by God’s Spirit in us and other men and women, by God’s grace through faith. Unity releases the power of God. In the early church the people were: “of one heart and of one soul”, no one lacked, the apostles preached with great power, signs, wonders and miracles and the church grew tremendously (Acts 4:32-33).

Focus on walking with God today and see how he will bless your relationships with others.

Lean on God Today

In Daniel 11:32 (KJV) we read that: “the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits”. This is great news but sometimes we get tired and plain worn out from our busyness and efforts, often because we try to do things our way; or is that just me? But be encouraged as the word says that: “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint” (Isa 40:31). To wait means to wait expectantly or patiently for. We are also instructed in Proverbs chapter 3 and verses 5 and 6 to press into God and trust him, not our own minds; this makes it easier for him to give us a smooth journey through life.

In Isaiah 41:10 we are told that we should not fear as our God will strengthen us, help us and uphold us. We don’t need to fear as God is the strength of our lives (Ps 27:1). “I can do all things through Christ who strengtheneth me” (Phil 4:13). Don’t let satan steal your joy as: “the joy of the Lord is your strength” (Neh 8:10b). So, just cast all your cares on him today because he cares for you: (1 Peter 5:7). He is your strength, do things his way. He will never leave you nor forsake you (Heb 13:5).

Have a strong day in him.

The Awesome Power of God’s Word

“So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish what which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it” (Isa 55:11; KJV).

God spoke the word to bring creation in to being (Gen 1). “And God said, let there be light: and there was light” (v3). In Hebrews chapter 4 and verse 12 we read that God’s word is powerful, has energy is active, living, at work and effective. But notice the emphasis on the word being spoken or leaving God’s mouth to be effective. We need to believe and speak God’s word for it to produce results in our lives. We had to do this to be saved and it is the same for all of our ongoing faith walk: “for with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation” (Rom 10:10).

“For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith” (Mark 11:23). Believe and speak to your mountains (problems, challenges, etc.), command them to move in Jesus name and they have to move.

Speak the word today.

God Rejoices Over You

“The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing” (Zeph 3:17; KJV). Wow, what an encouraging scripture. God is in our midst; the very center and heart of our lives. He saves us and quiets us with his love. The word for save here means to liberate, deliver, rescue, defend, preserve and keep safe; this covers all aspects of life. He quiets us, causes us to be at peace, at rest and still in his amazing love.

But the most exciting part for me is that he rejoices over us with singing. When you study the words joy, rejoice and singing used here, they show us that our God and father is so excited and full of love for us that he leaps and dances with an infectious joy. God spins around in violent emotion over us, he shouts over us with a shrill high-pitched sound, with joy, rejoicing, gladness and laughter.

In other words, he is so happy and in love with his children that he goes ballistic over us. But then I thought, how do we praise him and express our love for him; do we do it in the same way he shows his approval of us? Let’s commit to praise our God as he deserves; let’s put pride aside and let her rip. We have so much to praise and thank our God for. Get up and get expressive in your praise for God today.

Shine Today

“He that wins souls is wise” (Prov 11:30; KJV). “I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, who need no repentance (Luke 15:7; KJV).

If heaven gets that excited about soul wining then we should to. Sometimes we can get very intimidated by the thought of sharing our beliefs with others. Well, start small and work up, this can make it easier and once you’ve started you will get excited about it. Challenge yourself to do something to witness each day and as you do, it gets easier. “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven” (Matt 5:16). First of all, let your light shine. Make sure the life of Jesus on the inside of you shines out in all you do and say; smile real big. “Put on charity”, as we read in Colossians 3:14. Leave tracts in restaurants, at checkouts and with people you come across. Let your speech be full of grace and seasoned with salt (Col 4:6). Take every opportunity you have to share why you are the way you are; to share about what God has done for you.

God says we should walk in wisdom toward non-Christians and redeem the time (Col 4:5). In other words, look for opportunities to share Jesus with people. Don’t worry, God will give you the words to say (Matt 10 :19). Get excited about sharing: “Do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men” (Col 3:23). This verse means we should take our eyes off our worries and shyness and witness for and in obedience to God and he will bless us and the outcomes. Go fishing today (Mark 1:17).
